A total of just seven million views separates the top two channels from our Global Top 50. That might not seem like a small sum, but in the context of YouTube’s most popular destinations, it’s barely more than a hair’s breadth.

Tops

T-series is still #1.

During the first full week of May, the Indian label increased its audience by 11% from week to week, giving him the boost he needed to retain the most coveted spot in our Global Top 50. In total, the seven-day viewership of T-Series exceeded 731.3 million weekly views. That left just under 190 billion lifetime views, so if you’re a fan of Indian music videos, get ready to celebrate this achievement next week.

For one of the firsts this year, T-Series has some serious competition for the top spot. As the calendar shifted to May, Like Nastya lived a 75% increase in traffic week over week move from fifth to second place in our Global Top 50. In total, the US-based hub has used its lineup of family-friendly videos to rack up 724.9 million per week views. With a little extra push, he can take the number 1 spot.

As Nastya’s winnings brought pain for Cocomelon – nursery rhymes, which fell one spot in the Global and US Top 50. In the global version of our chart, the California-based jingle and song provider landed third place, with its 571.2 million weekly views giving it a comfortable lead over all but two other channels. This total represented a 6% increase in viewership week over week.

The highest ranked Shorts YouTube channel in the Global Top 50 is LeoNata family. The all-ages hub is one of many nuclear units to earn a spot on the leaderboard (more on that below). This quintet reached 4th place by increasing its audience 20% week after week and ending with 407.3 million weekly views. This total was high enough for LeoNata to jump from 8th place to his current position.

Sony SA rounds out this week’s world top five. The Indian TV center won a position after claiming 396.2 million weekly views.

Top Winners

Speaking of family channels on YouTube Shorts, a German micro-video company is booming.

The channel name is The family booms, and its members include Aleks Valerie, Artur, Mark and Alex. Together, this quintet engages in challenges, experiments, and general rejoicing, and they achieve great results. In total, The Family Booms content has been watched over five billion times on the band’s official YouTube channel.

Much of that audience has arrived over the past week. During our last seven-day measurement period, The Family Booms more than doubled its traffic week-over-week while pushing its subscriber count beyond that. 4.3 million. His 211.1 million weekly views allowed the German channel to place 27 in our Global Top 50.

The funny thing is that The Family Booms has seen this recent growth even though the majority of its most-watched videos were uploaded almost a year ago. This scientific experiment, which has been seen more than 260 million timesarrived on YouTube last May:

More recently, the channel has mixed in some challenges and other proven formats in the family content space. This may explain its recent rise to prominence, but only the YouTube Shorts algorithm knows for sure.
