vanced: The app that lets users watch YouTube videos without ads is shutting down, here’s why

After facing a legal threat from googlethe popular advanced The YouTube app is discontinued. The developers confirmed that they had halted all further development of the project, and Vanced was officially discontinued.
“Vanced has been discontinued. In the next few days, the download links on the website will be removed. We know this isn’t something you want to hear, but it’s something we need to do. Thanks to all for supporting us over the years,” the brand said in a tweet.
According to replies to the original tweet, the app will continue to work, so for those who already have it installed. However, the developers note that it may stop working one day.
Advanced YouTube is a modified version of the original app that allows users to block all video ads on YouTube without a premium subscription. Vanced also includes a true black theme and customizations not offered in the official YouTube for android application.
Meanwhile, YouTube is bringing video transcripts to its Android app. With this new feature, users do not need to be seated at a computer to scroll through a script.
Once it’s live, they can click the “View Transcript” button below a video’s detailed description, sandwiched between all the chapters provided and other suggested downloads from the channel.
These transcription options look quite similar to what’s been available on desktop for a while now, but transposed into a mobile-friendly UI.
