The videos were found to spread fake news such as claims that Chinese spies had infiltrated the Indian government or that the government was alienating a certain community. The order to block the affected videos was issued under provisions of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Code of Ethics) Rules 2021, ministry sources said. However, all blocked content was covered by Section 69A of the Information Technology Act 2000.

The blocked videos are from channels such as Inquilab live, Hind Voice, Desh India Live, 4 PM, the Live TV, National Adda, Getsetflyfact, Mr Reaction Wala and a channel run by Congress party politician Vinay Pratap Singh Bhopar, at except Rathee’s YouTube. channel.
