Google Discover now lets you block videos from specific YouTube channels

While Samsung smartphones and tablets come with Samsung Free as the default option to discover new content, many people still like to swap it out for Google Discover. However, this feature lacked one crucial feature: an option to block videos from specific YouTube channels.

Google Discover primarily displays articles from across the web that are most relevant to you. If you are bothered by the content of a specific website, there is an option to block articles from that source. Sometimes the Discover feed also shows videos from YouTube and YouTube Shorts. However, if you don’t want to see content from a specific YouTube channel, there was no option to block videos from it. You had the option to completely stop YouTube videos from showing in the feed, but there was no option to stop seeing videos from a particular channel. The ability to do this has been the most requested feature on Discover.

Google has updated the application with the “Do not display the content of [channel] on YouTube” to let you do just that. If you don’t like the content of a particular YouTube channel, just select this option and Discover will stop showing you videos on your Samsung phone. This option gives users control more specific about customizing their feed. Google also retained the ability to completely block YouTube videos from showing in the feed.

The new feature is live on the latest version of the Google Search app, and we have this option on one of our devices. If you don’t see the new option, try updating the app from the Google Play Store.
