Google is about to introduce handles for YouTube channels

Google has announced that it is ready to introduce handles for YouTube channels. This was stated in an update given via emails sent to my Google.

What is a YouTube ID? A YouTube handle is a new way for people to find you and connect with you. Unlike channel names, IDs are unique to each creator, making it easier for you to establish a distinct presence on YouTube.

According to the information sent, Google said it was writing to let you know that over the next few weeks, YouTube will be introducing handles to make it easier for community members to find each other and sign in. Your ID will be unique to your channel and will be how people mention you in comments, community posts, etc.

They further stated that they are gradually rolling out the ability to choose a handle for all channels over the next few weeks, and you will receive another email and notification in YouTube Studio when you can choose yours. In most cases, if you already have a custom URL for your channel, we’ve reserved it for you as an identifier. Google said!

If you want a different ID than the one reserved by YouTube, you can change it. If you don’t already have a custom URL today, you’ll also be able to choose a nickname for your channel.

Starting November 14, 2022, if you haven’t already selected a nickname for your channel, YouTube will automatically assign you one, which you can change in YouTube Studio if you wish.

Things you can do with a handle

1) Stand out in shorts

2) Identify yourself uniquely

3) People can tag you in videos

4) Let others find you on YouTube

5) Connect with other YouTube community members
