India BANS 8 YouTube channels for broadcasting horrible content! That’s what they did; check the full list

India has blocked eight YouTube channels for spreading fake news and misinformation about the country. Seven of these accounts belonged to Indian YouTubers and one belonged to a Pakistani YouTuber.

The growing epidemic of misinformation, fake news, and misinformation on YouTube has become a big deal. Now, in a shock, India has banned a total of eight YouTube channels, seven of which were Indian YouTubers and one belonged to a Pakistani YouTuber. At the same time, a Facebook account and two Facebook messages were also deleted. According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, these channels were spreading fake news and disinformation against India. The move comes just a week after news of the government blocking the VLC media player website emerged.

The department used its emergency powers under the 2021 IT rules to ban these YouTube channels and the Facebook account. The YouTube channels that were banned were very popular and had a total of 114 million views and more than 85 million subscribers, according to a statement released by the government.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting also pointed out that these channels helped spread hatred between religious communities and incited enmity through their content. These banned YouTube channels have regularly made false claims and spread misinformation. Horribly, they even targeted religion.

“Examples include fake news such as the Indian government ordering the demolition of religious structures; The Indian government has banned the celebration of religious festivals, the declaration of religious war in India, etc. Such content has proven to have the potential to create community discord and disrupt public order in the country,” the ministry said.

“YouTube channels have also been used to post fake news on various topics like Indian Armed Forces, Jammu and Kashmir etc. The content has been observed as completely false and sensitive from national security perspective and friendly relations of India with foreign states,” he added.

Blocked Indian YouTube channels include Loktantra Tv with 12.90 lakh subscribers, U&V TV with 10.20 lakh subscribers, AM Razvi with 95,900 subscribers, Gouravshali Pawan Mithilanchal with 7 lakh subscribers, Sarkari Update with 80,900 subscribers and Sab Kuch Dekho with 19.40 lakh followers. On the other hand, the only Pakistani YouTube channel to be banned was News ki Dunya with 97,000 subscribers.
