YouTube videos go unlisted or are automatically set to private for many people

YouTube is the most popular video platform today. Since Google bought it in 2006, the service has constantly received many improvements.

Content creators are a key part of the YouTube ecosystem. They attract audiences to the platform and as a reward for their work, Google allows them to monetize their YouTube channels after meeting certain conditions.

However, many content creators on YouTube are currently facing an issue that could affect the viewability and performance of their videos.

Specifically, there’s an issue where YouTube videos aren’t listed or are automatically set as private, and there’s nothing creators can do to prevent it (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7).

YouTube videos automatically set as private

According to multiple reports, every video that many content creators try to upload to YouTube is set to “private”.

Some weird bugs on #YouTube this morning. I assure you that my video is not private. I also see other people having issues with live streams. Try updating the app, someone said that fixed the problem. 🤷‍♂️

Alright, I guess I can’t post the videos today. No idea what’s going on, every video I try to post is set to ‘private’ even though it’s public in the dashboard… @TeamYouTube Any help?

However, it should be noted that the content creators received feedback on these videos. However, this should not be possible with private videos.

Is this video private to you?

I think youtube has a little atm problem lol. Some people say the video is private, but normally you can’t comment on private videos, so… It’ll probably be fine soon.

So, the above suggests that this issue might actually be a visual bug.

Some YouTube videos are not even listed on the platform

In some cases, the videos of YouTube content creators are even unlisted on the platform, which can directly impact their visibility and therefore their monetization.

@YouTube Video was public on my channel came first and public video only. But my appearance was not listed, the video was viewed first. Again, this video was public again no more than 6 days ago, which passed the watch time. So it took so long to get back to watch time and remonetize my channel.

The YouTube team reviews it

The YouTube team is already aware of the issue in question and is investigating. However, there is no information yet on an estimated arrival date for a patch.

Thanks for the URL – we’ve seen similar reports of this issue with videos automatically set as private/unlisted, and we’ll forward yours as well. Note that we are already thinking about it.

We will update this story once new events emerge on this.
